The press association Reuter reported from Washing that the American Senate and the United States House of Representatives approved the bill supplying 4.000.000.000 dollar for the navy and which was send to president Roosevelt to sign. The intention was to build 35 battleships, 20 aircraft mother ships (carriers), 88 cruisers, 378 destroyers and 180 submarines to be completed before 1947 bringing the total of American warships from 369 to 701 units.
