Dutch privateer Zeehond in 1798-1799

In the local newspaper Leeuwarder Courant dated 26 May 1798 was a news item published based on a letter dated 6 May. According to this letter fought the 7 guns Zeehond, commanded by Captain Pieter Feyes, with a 12 guns cutter and an 18 guns brig, both of British origin. Despite the fight the Zeehond was able/permitted to continue her voyage towards the Channel.

According to the local newspaper Leeuwarder Courant dated 3 April 1799 intended the auction master of the Naval Department of Harlingen to sell on a public auction on 19 April 14.00 her prize the brig Union.
