The Egyptian French built frigate Gazelle in 1827

In the The Christian telescope and Universalist Miscellany of David Pickering (1827, p. 24) is an interesting item published. Comments are superfluous. Probably it’s the same frigate earlier mentioned in my “Notes dealing with the Egyptian navy in the first part of the 19th century after Navarino. Part I” on this weblog. “The Gazelle, a frigate built for the pacha of Egypt, has been ensured at Lloyds’s at 3 per cent, and a warranty was given that she was top be accompanied by two French frigates from Marseilles to Alexandria. We hope, not withstanding the convoy of two French frigates, that the Messrs. Lloyds will gave to pay the full prize of the Gazelle”.
