The Russian fleet at Copenhagen and the Algerian, Greek and French navies in the Mediterranean according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 8 August 1827

Copenhagen, 28 July. Before her departure from Copenhagen Saturday 21 July went the Russian admiral Seniavan accompanied by his main important officers on land. The fleet took some experienced sailors of Copenhagen on board to serve as pilots through the Kattegat and for the North Sea. At Elseneur were 400 oxen available to be used as victuals for the fleet.

Frankfurt, 3 August. Tidings from Constantinople arriving via Bucharest reported that Lord Cochrane had ordered to hasten the fitting out of the fleet and that Poros was mentioned as scene of gathering.

Paris, 4 August. The commissary of navy at Bordeaux got from the secretary of navy a letter coming from the chamber for commerce mentioning that the French consul at Gibraltar Silvestre de Sacy reported that 3 Algerian privateers passed the Strait towards open sea. De Sacy got the news from the master of a Sardinian galliot, coming from Oran. The latter said that the 1st 6 privateers left Algiers or Oran, namely 1 velachero, 1 feluc and a very small but fast sailing vessel, all destined for sea and 3 others of medium size destined towards the East. Captain Collet of the French naval force off Algiers reported the nightly departure from Algiers by 4 armed felucs, which could pass the banks due to their slight draught.
