American light cruiser USS Omaha (CL-4) 1918-1946



Part of the Omaha-class. Laid down on the yard of the Todd SB&DD Company of Tacoma, Washington in 6 December 1918, launched on 14 December 2 years later while sponsored by Louise Bushnell White, commissioned not earlier as on 24 February 1923, decommissioned on 1 November 1946, stricken on 28th November and broken up in February a year later at the Philadelphia Navy Yard..

With a displacement of 7,050 tons (normal)/7,160 metric-9,507 tons (full load) were her dimensions 555’6’ x 55’4”x 19’11”-20’10”. Her crew numbered 458-823 men. The original armament consisted of 8x1 and 2x2-6 guns (in 1929 were 2 guns removed), 4-3” guns and 2x3-21” torpedo tubes. The steam turbines and 12 boilers supplied 90,000 hp allowing a speed of 34,7 knots.
