British frigate HMS Chatham (F 87) 1986-2011 (2013)

Laid down at the yard of Swan Hunter, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom on 12 May 1986, on 20 January two years later launched while sponsored by Lady Oswald, commissioned on 4 May 1990, decommissioned on 9 February 2011 and broken up at the Leyel Shipyard, Turkey in 2013.. Her homeport was the HMNB Devonport, Plymouth. A so-called Batch 3 Type 22 Frigate with the motto Up and at ‘em. With a displacement of 5,300 tons are the dimensions 486’9” x 48’6” x 21’ or 148,1 x 14,8 x 6,4 metres. The two Rolls-Royce Marine Spey gas turbines allowed a maximum speed of 30 knots while the two Rolls Rocyce Tune gas turbines allowed a cruising speed of 18 knots. Her crew numbered >250-301< men. The armament consisted of 1 Goal keeper, 2-2cm Gam-B01 guns, decoy launchers, 2x3 magazine anti-submarine loaded torpedo tubes for which she carried with 36 torpedoes, 2x4 harpoon missile launchers (8 total) and 2 Sea Wold anti air system for which she carried with 72 missiles.
