Large number of merchant ships Panamanian flagged according to the Dutch newspaper Provinciale Overijsselsche en Zwolsche Courant dated 9 September 1941

The American newspaper New York reported that the Panamanian government announced that at that moment 270 ships with a total capacity if 1,175,000 tons were in service under the Panamanian flag. Since the outbreak of the Second World War were 82 American ship including 70 tankers brought under these flag.
