Dutch and German whalers sent out to Greenland and Davis Strait according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 11 February 1769

An item reported that that year 50 whalers were sent out towards Davis Strait totally 50 ships namely Amsterdam 26, Zaandam 8, Koog 3, Oostzaan 2, Westzaan 2, Krommenie 2, Rotterdam 1 and 4 from Hamburg, Germany
.

Towards Greenland were sent totally 185 ships (139 whalers and 46 seal hunters) namely Amsterdam 61, Zaandam 18, Rotterdam 6, Alkmaar 4, De Rijp 4, Westzaan 2, Harlingen 2, Koog 2, Hoorn 1, Wieringerwaard 1, Jisp 1, Krimpen op de Lek 1, Dordrecht 1, a total of 104 Dutch ships joined by 23 whalers and 27 seal hunters of Hamburg, of Altona 3 whalers and 15 seal hunters, of Bremen 5 whalers, of Oostroom 1 whaler and of Gluckstadt 4 seal hunters.
