An item dated Vigo 26 May reported that the same afternoon five transports left Vigo with on board the men belonging to the so-called Condor-legion.

1. This legion was composed of volunteers belonging to the German Air Force and Army and which served on the side of the Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War between July 1936 and March 1939. They were responsible for the bombing of the Spanish town Guernica on 26 April 1937.
