Swedish and Russian warships cruising off Copenhagen forcing Danish court to act according to the Dutch magazine Maandelyksche Nederlandsche Mercurius dated September 1759

The Russian and Swedish squadrons cruising off Copenhagen caused suspicion at the Danish court and which asked her commanding officers for the reason. The answer was that the only purpose was to prevent British warships entering the Baltic and to stay there as long as possible and needed. Both squadrons asked for permission to enter a Danish harbour in case of storm or other calamities and/or to buy needed stores against cash money. The court disagreed with this cruising and refused the request.
