USA naval building program according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuwsblad voor Sumatra dated 22 August 1951

An item reported that the US navy announced that 101 warships including three carriers of the Essex-class were to be modernized or rebuilt. Further more were four minesweepers to be built. The costs of this program were not supplied. Earlier were the costs of rebuilding one single carrier tens millions of dollars.
