British shipyard built Russian steam gunboat according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated 10 March 1861

An item reported that the British shipyard Rennie and Sons completed recently a steam gunboat for the Russian government suitable to serve in the shallow creeks and bays of the Caspian Sea. She was manufactured from steel with as dimensions 72 x 12 x 20” (complete fitted out) feet. The armament consisted of a rifled 12pd gun which could be easily elevated. The high pressure engine supplied 8 hp allowing a speed of 8-9 miles.
