An item reported that the Saturday before at the shipyard Boele’s Scheepswerven en Machinefabriek at Bolnes the cutter dredger Beverwijk 31 was launched by the spouse of the burgomaster of Berverwijk.(1) She was the largest of her kind until now built in the Netherlands and a replacement for the Beverwijk 30 wrecked a year ago off Cardiff. The Beverwijk was especially suitable for heavy soil included rocks. The 20cm large cutting head was fitted out with 2x900 hp electro motors while for the transport of the ground a 33.000 hp diesel engine was used. 1. The edition dated 30 September 1965 reported that she was to be the largest in Europe. The dimensions of the pontoon were 66 x 15 x 4,23 metres but included the swing arms was the total length 106,5 metres. Diameter suction pipe 85cm and diameter of the discharge line 80cm. The maximum working depth was20 metres. Delivery was ordered before 1 March 1968.
