Swedish gunboat Svenskund used for Spitsbergen expedition of Andrée according to the Dutch newspaper according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch Nieuwsblad 9 February 1897

An item reported that the Swedish king Oscar approved the request from Andrée who asked for the gunboat Svenskund for his Spitsbergen expedition that year.(1) The edition dated 26 May reported that the engineer Andrée and his fellows Stindberg and Trenckel went on board of the ship which would bring them to the island Danskon near Spitsbergen.

Note
1. The newspaper Nieuwsblad van het Noorden dated 9 September 1930 published a photo of the Svensksund when she left with the expedition in May 1897. In 1930 was she ordered to bring the remains of the expedition members back to Sweden.
