One of the measures taken was to blockade Venezuela from the sea. The USA tried to stay neutral in this affair although it result was the Roosevelt Corollary of 1904 indicating that the USA would intervene in conflicts between European and Latin Americans nations with as main purpose to support legitimate European claims and in this manner preventing that the European nation her claims directly pressed.
