French navy experimenting with building material xylolith according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1908-1909 no. 3

An item reported that the French navy was experimenting at Toulon with xylolith (1) in stead of linoleum. Xylolith was for instance on board of the Russian armoured cruiser Makharoff.

Note
1. This was a mixture of magnesia cement, sawdust and wood flour to which mixture finely dispersed mineral substances were added and which was used as building material.
