British Royal Navy ordered two petrol tankers according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad 1912-1913 no. 7

An item referred to the magazine The Motorship dated 8 August reporting that the British Royal Navy ordered two instead of one petrol tanker fitted out with 750 hp diesel engines. One Carels engine was built by Barrow and the M.A.N. engine by White. The same magazine also reported that on short notice another 3 large ships each of 2.400 hp were to be ordered. Sadly enough was the building of 6.000 hp 6-cylinder engines still not really progressing.
