French monitor Fulminant broken up in the Netherlands according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1913-1914 no. 3

An item referred to the magazine Le Yacht dated 31 May reporting that the aged French target Fulminant was sold to a Dutch firm and towed on 27 May by a tug towards Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht.(2) In the original article wondered the author what was necessary to convert an aged battleship for new purposes. The ship was nu sold to be broken up but could have been more worth is she had been sold directly after she was decommissioned.

1. Belonged to the Tonnerre-class with as sister ship the Tonnerre. This single turret (1x2-10’8” guns) breastwork monitor was laid in January 1875 at Cherbourg, launched in August two years later, completed in 1882 and finally stricken in 1908.
2. The Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 29 May 1913 reported that she was underway with the Dutch tug Roode Zee from Toulon. Her destination was the scrapyard of Frank Rijsdijk at Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Another newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 21 January reported her sale for 318.150 francs calling her a coast defence ship.
