American steamship China halted by British merchant cruiser Laurentic according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 27 March 1916

An item dated Copenhagen the 25th reported that the British cruiser Lauren tic (1) halted the American steamship China on the roads of Shanghai and took 28 Germans, 8 Austrians and 2 Turks from board. The American consul protested on behalf of her captain against this action.

1. This must be the steamship Laurentic of the White Star Line built in 1907 and serving between 1915 and 25 January 1917 as an armed merchant cruiser.
