Japanese navy tanker Hayamoto visiting Taraka, Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Soerabaijasch Handelsblad dated 29 April 1937

An item reported the expected visit at Tarakan on 26 May of the Japanese 14.050 tons navy tanker Hayamoto. She was built in 1924. At that moment was the only Dutch navy warship there the minelayer Prins van Oranje.(1)

Note
1. This Dutch minelayer laid down on 20 September 1930 and was destroyed on in the night of 11-12 January 1942 off the island Bubyu, Celebes sea when she tried to escape from Tarakan towards Surabaya. Of a crew numbering 118 men just 16 survived.
