Soviet Union interested in buying British ships according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 3 November 1933

An item referred to British newspapers reporting that Russian experts were searching in England for cargo ships suitable for the Soviet merchant marine. Negotiations were going about the sale of five cargo ships property of well known British shipping companies which were active in the Baltic and the White Sea in the timber trade. The British owners wanted good prices and cash payment. Russian experts visited recently the Netherlands with the same intention.
