Japanese merchant ships fitted out with anti aircraft guns according to the Dutch newspaper Dordrechtse Courant dated 18 April 1942

An item dated Tokyo 17 April reported that the Japanese cabinet ordered that merchant ships from 1 May on were to be armed with anti aircraft guns and that cooperation between the ships at full sea and the naval and army air defence was to be improved. The measure was taken to protect the Japanese merchant navy against air attacks.
