The Brazilian frigate Piranga at Portsmouth, England according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 16 July 1825

London, 12 July. According to tidings from Portsmouth dated 9 July was the Brazilian frigate Piranga caulked before returning to Rio Janeiro. It’s believed that Cochrane won’t hoist flag on board again although he ordered her fitting out. The crew was paid 3 months wages and their part in the prize money. The sailors were permitted to choose to stay on the pay roll of to go elsewhere. Some of them while have spent their money were engaged again, others volunteered to serve on British warships but were treated as renegades and refused. In Brazilian service it was common to pay the sailors every two months.
