American steamship Old Colony commissioned on the line New York-Boston-Newport according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 26 December 1865

An item reported that the new splendid steamship Old Colony was commissioned on the shipping line between New York, Boston and Newport replacing the Newport which was laid up during the winter. The Old Colony was built by John English&Son for the so-called Sound service with as dimensions 315x 42(beam)-75 (over all) x 14 (depth).
