Australian inhabitants successful with whale hunting according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 6 December 1864

An item referred to a letter received from Sydney, Cape Breton, Australia reported that inhabitants of a nearby island succeeded in driving 42 whales ashore. The average weight of these whales was two tons.
