Dutch transport Zr.Ms. Helding arriving at Den Helder returning from the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe courant van Den Helder dated 24 May 1862

An item dated Den Helder 23 May reported that the Dutch transport Zr.Ms. Heldin (1) arrived early in the morning of the 22nd returning from the Dutch East Indies, She anchored in the evening before on the roads, lost both anchors during heavy storms coming in a very dangerous situation nearby the Haaks. Experienced local sailors well known with the stream and tidal inlets which came on board that afternoon helped to keep her save. Her etat major consisted of captain lieutenant O. Toutenhoofd, 1st lieutenants Jhr. C.J.P. vom Muhlen and G.W.C. Westenberg, 2nd lieutenants J.H. Haakman, Jhr. C.C. van der Wijck, H.J. van Broekhuijzen, J.C. Schotel, L.G.C. Wachendorff van Rijn, midshipmen 1st class M.F. Reeringh, P.C. Pabst, H. van Broekhuijzen, H.J. Borgerhoff van den Berg, officer of health 3rd class P.W.J. van den Broek and officer of administration 3rd class C. van Berkel. On board were some prisoners sentenced in the Dutch East Indies to go a prison in the Netherlands. For the zoo Artis at Amsterdam was a lion on board, a baboon and some smaller species. The lion which was very tame was allowed to walk free on deck.
