Dutch brig ship Apollonia and Italian bark Carlo returning from respetively Argentina and Guinea with exotic animals according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated Thursday 24 August 1865

An item dated Den Helder, Netherlands the 23rd reported that last week J. Beijers de Jongh representing the Koninklijk Zoölogisch Genootschap Natura Artis Magistra at Artis bought at Den Helder 12 cardinal birds (Cardinalis cardinalis?) from the Italian bark ship Carlo captain M. Mosheo coming from Buenos Aires and from the Dutch brig ship Apollonia captain P.J. Arnolds returning from the coast of Guinea 25 pairs of small green coloured lovebirds (Agapornis), 10 blue coloured parrots (Poicephalus rueppellii?) and 2 ‘hondsapen‘ (baboons?).
