Ship carpenters transferred from navy yard at Vlissingen, Netherlands to the one at Willemsoord, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated 6 March 1862

An item referred to another newspaper Nieuwe Dagblad van ‘s-Gravenhage which published an item as requested by the navy yard at Williamsport [=Den Helder]. There departed a day earlier the steamship Zr. Ms. Cycloop to transport ship carpenters from the navy yard at Vlissingen towards the one at Willemsoord while the men no longer were needed at Vlissingen. The reported wondered why this decision was taken while as he was well informed the men from Vlissingen were to replace carpenters at Willemsoord. Strangely enough were the carpenters of Vlissingen just like the ones just in temporarily service. The ship carpenters in temporarily service at Willemsoord requested the minister of navy to taken measures and hoped not to be dismissed in favour of the men coming from Vlissingen. They also had households depending on them and they left in the past their earlier employers in the hope to get permanent employment.(1)

Note
1. The navy yard at Vlissingen was at that moment still working although continuous plans were made to close it which finally happened in 1867.
