British destroyer HMS Daring (D 05) 1945-1968

Of the so-called daring class destroyers of which the building was permitted in 1944. In the period 1953-October 1957 this class was excluded from British destroyers fleet and referred to as the Darings. Her keel at the shipyard of Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Tyne and Wear, England on 29 September 1945, launched not earlier as on 19 August 1949 and completed c.q. commissioned on 8 March 1952. Decommissioned on 9 October 1968 was sold to be broken up and she arrived at Blyth on 15 June 3 years later for that purpose. Motto Splendide audax. The Wallsend Slipway&Engineering Company was responsible for her engineering consisting of 2 Foster Wheeler boilers and parsons steam turbines delivering via two shafts 54.000 ship resulting in a speed if 30 knots. With  a speed reduced to 20 knots was her range 4.400 nautical miles. Her crew numbered around the 300 men.

With a displacement of 2.830 (standard)-3.820 (full load) tons were her dimensions 120 x 16 x 4,1 metres or 290’ x 53’ x 13.6’. The armament consisted of 6-4.5”/1,14cm quick firing guns, 3x2-4cm Bofors anti aircraft guns, 2-21”/53.3cm [pentad torpedo tubes and one squid anti submarine mortar.
