An item reported the arrival at Willemstad, France of the French steam warship Adonis commanded by Miot underway from La Guayra towards Maracaibo with on board A. Mellinet, representative for France at the Venezuelan government at Caracas.(1)

1. Launched in 1863 at Ajaccio as part of the Adonis-class with as sister ship the Amphion and finally hulked in 1883. With a displacement of 750 tons and as dimensions 54,25 x 8,53 x 3,66 metres. With a crew numbering 88 men and an armament of 4-4.7” guns. Wood-built.
