Warships built in England for Colombia according to the Dutch newspaper De Curacaosche courant dated 2 February 1867

An item reported that the ship seized at Chatham was not property of the Fenian Brotherhood.(1) Her captain who first disappeared finally appeared and stated that the Bolivar was one of the three warships built in England for the Colombian government of which two already arrived at Colombia. The Bolivar was now guarded by a British warship until the examination was ended and the British cabinet gave indication how to handle. The consul of the United States of Colombia E. Redman stated in the newspapers that his cabinet ordered the building of the steam warship Bolivar to end the smuggling along the coast of New Granada.
