A telegram dated Amsterdam, Netherlands the 14th reported that admiral Ting surrendered the complete Chinese fleet to Japan. An item dated Batavia, Dutch East Indies 15th added that this was the Chinese fleet lying in the Bay of Wei hai wei and a large number of the ships already was destroyed. A telegram sent by the press association Reuter reported that the Japanese fleet there numbered 20 warships, 10 torpedo boats and 8 transports.(1)
