Dutch seal hunting on the Wadden according to the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 25 August 1881

An item dated Eenrum, Netherlands24th reported that two brothers of Westernieland the only seal hunters on the Wadden stretching from the German coast towards Den Helder, Netherlands. Their family had the right to do since centuries and which had been a prosperity way of earning money. The profits however decreased in last years due to lowered prices fore seal skins and train. Yearly were 175-200 seals catches. In 1881 however a brother catches 110, the other more as 40.
