Federal German navy abolished according to the Dutch newspaper Dagblad van ‘s-Gravenhage dated 17 March 1851

An item dated Frankfurt, Germany 14th reported that the German navy indeed was to be abolished and the Federal commission for naval affairs was ending her activities on short notice. The Prussian navy was interested in buying the majority of the available ships for her own navy. The cadets coming from the South parts of Germany travelled to Trieste to enter the service in the Austrian navy.
