Movements of Dutch warships according to the Dutch newspaper Vlissingse Courant dated 3 May 1843



An item dated Vlissingen, Netherlands dated the 2nd reported that on 1 May were to be commissioned the Dutch 14 gun brig Zr.Ms. Pijl (1) lieutenant 1st class A.J. Voet, on 15th May the corvette Zr.Ms. Boreas (2) captain lieutenant J. Jolly, 18 gun brig Zr.Ms. Lynx (3) captain lieutenant D.J. baron van Rengers, 1st officer lieutenant Fabius and the 18 gun brig Zr.Ms. Haay (4) captain lieutenant S.J. graaf van Limburg Stirum. According to other tidings intended the guard ships Zr.Ms. Sambre (5), Schelde (6) and Maas (7) to leave the Dutch harbours Nieuwediep, Hellevoetsluis and Vlissingen on 1 May, probably towards the North Sea for cruising.

Call sign GQMT, on stocks at navy yard at Vlissingen, Netherlands, 13 June 1838, launched 26 May 1842, docked at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands 23 April-25 July 1850 and 16-11 November 1853, accommodation ship 1869, stricken 1870, displacement 527 tons, dimensions 31,50x 9,50 x 4,50metres and an armament of 18 guns.

Brig 1st class, on stocks at the navy yard at Rotterdam, Netherlands 29 October 1838, launched 11 May 1842, docked at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands 30 December 1842-12 January 1843, 25 October 1849-27 March 1850 and 18-20 February 1851, last mentioned 1861, dimensions 31,50 x 9,5 x 4,50 metres, 546 tons displacement, 18 guns.

Ex-Algiers, frigate 2nd class, call sign GQTL, building ordered by decision nr. 16, on 15 April 1816, on stocks at navy yard at Amsterdam, Netherlands in June 1818, launched on 27 August 1821, coppered 1821, commissioned by decision no. 30 of 18 February 1822, renamed Sambre by decision no. 100 dated 5 April 1828, razeed as 28 guns frigate on 1836, guard ship at Willemsoord, Netherlands since 1 May 1850, guard ship at Vlissingen 1851-1 November 1866, stricken 1867, broken at at the navy yard at Vlissingen, Netherlands the same year 1461 tons displacement, dimensions 163 x 42 x 22 27/11 feet, an armament of 44 guns and a crew numbering 300 men.
