Italian suction dredger Po underway from Netherlands towards Italy according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Schiedamsche Courant dated Monday 28 December 1908

An item reported the departure from the shipyard Gusto (firm A.F. Smulders), Schiedam, Netherlands by the seagoing dredger Po towards Venice, Italy. Fitted out with two screws a press pump and built for account of the Italian government. The Schiedamsche Courant of the 29th reported that the departure was on Thursday. Dimensions 30 x 6 x 2,2 metres. Compound steam engine of 150 ihp with surface condensation for the sand pump and screws, a steam winch on the bow for the anchor and suction pipe and on a aft ships a second steam winch. One boiler with a heating surface of 60 square metres and 8 atmosphere. Suction capacity 400 cubic metres/hour from a working depth of 7 metres and able to press the mud away via a floating pipe with a length of 100 metres. Speed around 8 knots. Used her own engine for the voyage towards Venice. (1)
