Labourers at Schiedam Netherlands founded their own Rhine towage company according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Schiedamsche Courant dated Thursday 30 November 1899

An item reported that as a result of the strike by engineers and stokers, were several men also at Dordrecht, Netherlands workless including 3 with large households. Some labourers however succeeded in founding a company which exploited a Rhine tug allowing the involved men to earn wages. Three citizens of Dordrecht lent money making it possible to buy the tug Concurrent. Renamed Anton en Irene was she on Saturday morning at 08.00 o’clock taken in service. The company had a working capital of 10.500 Dutch guilders and as director J.G.J. van den Dorpel at Dordrecht. The intention was that via de profits the engineers working on board could buy the tug in the future. She departed the same Saturday with a tow towards Duisburg. The tug got her orders via the Internationale Rijnsleepersvereeniging.
