German submarine sunk Dutch steamship Texel according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder courant dated 6 June 1918

An item dated New York, USA 5th reported that the submarine which sunk the Dutch steamship Texel shot three times. The German commanding officer went next on board of the Texel and ordered her crew to go into the boats. With the use of a bomb was the ship destroyed. Her crew numbering 36 persons was left behind without food or water and finally rescued by the Coast Guard and brought to Atlantic City, USA. She measured 3.210 tons, built at Rotterdam, Netherlands in 1913 and owned by the Stoomvaartmaatschappij Triton.
