Spanish submarine C-4 lying at le Verdon, France according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 10 September 1937

An item dated Paris, France 8th referred to foreign newspaper which reported that the submarine C-4 of the Spanish Republicans arrived in damaged condition at Le Verdon. The same newspapers claimed that she was involved in the attack on the British destroyer Havock. The French department of foreign affaires pointed out that the C-4 was lying since 23 August in the roads of Le Verdon and that the Havock was attacked on 31 August.(1)

1. Launched at Cartagena, Spain on 6 July 1929 and lost in June 1946. On 7 March 1939 surrendered to the Spanish Nationalists. She was an improved, enlarged B-class of the Holland-design built under a license of the Electric Boat Company, USA.
