Cargo coal of Dutch bark Melati heated according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad 17 January 1887

An item dated Surabaya, Dutch East Indies 11 December 1886 reported that on board of the Dutch ship Melati captain Bos on 23 November was discovered that the cargo of coal was heated make it necessary to throw 120 ton over board. Eight days later was discovered that again the cargo was heated and was a part removed. Her captain believed that the ship was not damaged.(1)
