American destroyer USS Porter (1914-1934) on 1 September 1915

Trials 8 March 1916. Source Naval History and Heritage Command

Building approved in 1913. First material immediately ordered. Keel laid after 10,5 months. On 1 September after 1 year and 11 months 83% completed, will be at least 6 months over time. Contracted building time 2 years.(1)

Tucker-class, preceded by O'Brien-class and succeeded by Sampson-class. Building ordered in 1913, laid down with yard number 420 by William Cramp&Sons, Philadelphia, USA in 24 August 1914, launched on 26 August 1915, commissioned on 17 April 1916, decommissioned on 23 June 1922 and finally stricken on 5 July 1934..
