Japanese battle ship Hyuga launched according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1916/1917 no. 9

An item reported that the Japanese super dreadnought Hioema with a displacement of 31.267 ton, a speed of 23 miles and an main armament of 12-35cm guns was launched in February. The building started in May 1915.(1)

The must be the Hyuga of which the building was ordered in 1912, laid down at the shipyard of Mitsubishi, Japan on 16 May 1915, launched on 27 January 1917, commissioned on 30 April 1918, run aground in shallow waters off Kure on 27 July 1945 and afterwards savaged and broken up between 2 July 1946 and 4 July 1947. With a displacement of 38.872 long tons/39.496 tons were her dimensions 219,62 x 33,8 x 9,14 metres or 720.6 x 110.11 x 9.14 metres. Her original main armament consisted of 6x2-35,6cm guns with a secondary armament of 20-14cm guns, 16-12pd/3” guns, 4-12pd/3” anti aircraft guns and 6-53,3cm/21” submerged torpedo tubes.
