Dutch steam pilot vessel Frans Naerebout 1901-1917


In the order administration registered on 26 September/5 October 1901 under yard number 99. Contract price was ƒ 118.000 excluded ƒ 395 for additional labour. For this price was to be delivered a vessel with as dimensions 31,10 (between perpendiculars)-32,80 (over all) x 6,50 (maximum) x 2,45 (trial)-2,80 x 3,35 (hold) metres. Displacement 232 ton. Five watertight bulkheads. One deck. One steam winch. One yawl on board. Two masts of which the foremast with a derrick. Her crew as pilot vessel numbered 11 men. Coal bunker capacity 20 ton. The steam engine with a weight of 12.306 was to deliver 330,5 ihp at 141 rpm. Further more a steam boiler of 2,80 (diameter)x 2,72 (length) metres, 2 fires, with a weight of 14.200 kilo, a heating surface of 765,6 square metres, a grid surface of 29,15 square metres and 170lbs pressure. One screw with 4 fixed blades, diameter 2.30 metres. During trials developed the engine 343 hp allowing a speed of 10,51 knots. Water bunker capacity 0,5 (drinking water)-3 (power supply water) ton.

Tender registered 18 September 1901, building ordered on 28 September 1901, Laid down at the shipyard of the Kon. Mij. De Schelde, Vlissingen, Netherlands on 26 March 1902, in the thrushes on 12 April 1902, plating fitted on 30 may 1902, launched on 6 July 1902, trials while berthed on 9/12 September 1902, technical trial on 6 October 1902, official trial on 21 October 1902 and delivered on 14 November 1902. Commanded by Pronk departed she towards Rotterdam, Netherlands. Built by engineer Jacob Janszen jr., with as supervisor during the building engineer Jhr. Van Rappard.

Building costs totally ƒ 113.245,39 resulting in a profit of ƒ 5.149,61.
Ship totally ƒ 74.724,97 (labour ƒ 21.504,32, expenses ƒ 9 13.330,42, dry dock ƒ 86,00, stores ƒ 29.635,99, inventory ƒ 6.326.55 and cash ƒ 3.823,60).
Triple compound 3 cylinder steam engine no. 199 with a stroke of 18”and a cylinder of 10¾” x17” x 28,5”.  totally ƒ 30.065,54 (labour ƒ 6.364,37. Expenses ƒ 4.579,36, dry dock ƒ 86,00, stores ƒ 17.678,37, inventory ƒ 639,83, cash ƒ 717,61).
Steam boiler no. 322 totally ƒ 8.454,88 (labour ƒ 2.527,15, expenses ƒ 1.844,82, stores ƒ 3.787,32, inventory ƒ 268,26 and cash ƒ 27,33).

In the First World War by the Royal Netherlands Navy used as an auxiliary ‘mine fisher’ and on 2 May 1918 off the Stortemelk, Terschelling, Netherlands sunk when a mine exploded. Of her crew died 10 men.
