British shipyard Vickers, Sons&Maxim building submarines for Japanese account according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1908-1909 no. 5

An item reported that at the British shipyard Vickers Sons and Maxim, Barrow-in-Furness the Japanese submarine transport was launched.(1) She was to transport 2 submarines (2) of which the design was nearly to that of the British C-class except for having 2 torpedo launchers in the fore ship. It was the intention that the submarines could enter the in fact semi-submersible transport by a ballasting it and afterwards when the submarine were on board pumping away the ballast water. The length was 79,25 metres with a quite large beam. Engines and boilers were placed in the aft ship.

1. In a later edition was reported that this transport called Transporter was built for account of the shipyard with as first task to transport the Japanese submarines towards Japan.
