American battle cruiser USS Constitution in 1923


Lexington-class. Displacement 43.500 tons, horsepower 180.000 hp, oil fuelled turbine and electric drive machinery and an armament of 8-16” guns, 16-6” guns, 4-14pd anti aircraft guns, 4 submerged and 4 surfaced torpedo tubes. To be scrapped under the Washington Treaty.

1. Treaty signed between France, USA, United Kingdom, Italy and Japan after the Washington Naval Conference at Washington D.C. between November 1921-February 1922 limiting the building of battleships, battle cruisers and aircraft carriers. Concluded on 6 February 1922 and ratifications exchanged on 17 August 1923. Building in August 1923 cancelled and broken up in situ.
