American cruiser USS Omaha not rebuilt into flagship according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 6

An item referred to the magazine Le Yacht dated 5 October 1935 reporting that the intention to rebuilt the USS cruiser Omaha to (1) be used as flagship of the Asiatic squadron was cancelled due to the costs. The 10.000 tons cruiser Augusta renamed flagship.(2)

Of the Omaha-class light cruisers, first classified as a scout cruise .Her building was ordered on 29 August 1916, contracted on 26 December 1916 with a supplement on 21 February 1919, laid down by the Todd Dry Dock&Construction Co., Tacoma, Washington on 6 December 1918, launched by Louise Bushnell White on 14 December 1920, completed on 1 August 1921, commissioned on 24 February 1923, decommissioned on 1 November 1945, stricken on 28 November 1945 and finally broken up at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in February 1946.
2. Of the Northampton-class heavy cruisers. Building ordered on 18 December 1924, permitted on 13 June 1927, laid down by Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Virginia, USA on 2 July 1928, launched on 1 February 1930 and finally sold to Robert Benjamin, Panama City, Florida on 9 November 1959 to be broken up.
