Germans disabling harbour of Swakopmund, German South West Africa according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 23 September 1914

An item referred to a statement of a coaster on 11th August reporting that the Germans intended to leave Swakopmund (1) in German South West Africa after destroying the jetty, scuttling the tugs in the harbour and closing the ships and magazines. The victuals were transport towards Windhoek, capital city of the colony. The same happened at the harbour Lüderitzbucht [nowadays Namibia].
