Turkey bought German designed submarine E 1 according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 3

An item referred to the magazine marine Marine Rundschau dated March 1935 reporting that the Turkish cabinet bought at Cadiz, Spain the submarine ‘E 1’ as test. This submarine was built by the Ingenieursbureau voor Scheepsbouw [INKAVOS] at The Hague, Netherlands. As a result had the Turkish navy now five submarines. Displacement 750 (surfaced)-960 (submerged) tons, speed 20 (surfaced)-9 (submerged miles, a range pf 1.700 nautical miles with a speed of 18,8 and 6.640 nautical miles with a speed of 9.6 miles. Maximum diving depth 100 metres. Her armament consisted of 1-10,1cm gun, 1-12cm anti aircraft gun and 6-53,3cm torpedo tubes which she carried 14 torpedoes with her.(1)

1. Built at the Echevarrieta y Larrinaga Shipyard, Cadiz, Spain between 1929-1930 and in Turkish service until 1947 as the Gürr. Displacement 650 tons and as dimensions 72,38 x 6,2 x 3,49 metres.
