Building ordered in May 1892, laid down at the Pola Naval Arsenal [nu Pula, Croatia] on 31 July 1893, launched by Archduchess Maria Theresa on 9 May 1895, commissioned on 11 May 1898, her crew participated in the so-called Cattaro Mutiny in early February 1918, accommodation ship for the crews of submarines stationed at Gjenovic in April 1918, handed over to England as war reparations in January 1920, decommissioned on 14 March 1921 and broken up in Italy in 1921.

Of the Monarch-class consisting of the Monarch, Wien and Budapest, succeeded by the Habsburg-class. Built to replace the obsolete ironclads SMS Kronprinz Erzherzog Rudolf and Kronprinzessin Erzherzogin Stephanie.

General technical specifications. Displacement 5.878 tons and as dimensions 99,22 (over all) x 17 x 6,6 metres or 325.5 x 55.9 x 22 feet. Two vertical triple steam engines and 5 cylindrical boilers supplying via 2 shafts 8.600 ihp allowing a speed of 17,8 knots. With a speed of 9 knots and a coal bunker capacity of 500 tons a range of 3,500 nautical miles. Crew numbered 469 men. Harvey made nickel-steel armour consisted of a 27cm/10.6” thick belt, 6cm/2.4” thick deck with gun turrets, conning tower, redoubt and casemates protected by respectively 28cm/11”, and 22cm/8.7”, 7,6cm/3.0  and 7,6cm/3” thick armour. Armament consisted of 2x2-24cm/9” L/40 Krupp guns, 6-15cm/6” L/40 Skoda guns, 10-4,7cm/1.9” L/44 Skoda quick firing guns, 4-4,7cm/1.9” L/33 guns, 1-0,8mm/0.31” machinegun and 2-45cm/17.7” torpedo tubes (each broadside 1).
