An item reported that the Italian torpedo cruiser Elba launched in 1893 left Castellamare on 9 April. She was the first warships there completely fitted out including the there made machinery (by Guppy). Dimensions 83 x 12 x 8,60 metres and a displacement of 2.740 tons. Horsepower 6.500 ehp. Trials were executed in the Bay of Naples. The armament consisted of 7-15,2cm guns, 6-12cm guns, 8-5,7cm guns, 6-3,7cm guns and 2 Lancier tubes.
